Diagnostics

Aviva Cancer Centre offers a range of diagnostic services to help detect and diagnose various types of cancer. Their diagnostic services include:

1. Onco Pathology

A branch of pathology that deals with the diagnosis and characterization of cancer cells and tissues

2. FNACs

Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a diagnostic procedure that involves the use of a fine needle to aspirate or withdraw cells from a suspicious lump or mass in the body. The cells are then examined under a microscope to determine if they are cancerous or benign.

3. Histopathology

The study of diseased tissue at a microscopic level. It involves the examination of tissue samples, which are typically obtained through biopsy or surgical removal, to determine the presence, type, and extent of disease or abnormality.

4. Genetic Testing

A medical test that examines a person's DNA to identify changes or mutations in genes that may increase the risk of developing cancer.

5. Genetic Counselling

A process of communication between a patient and a trained healthcare professional, typically involves a comprehensive review of a patient's personal and family medical history, as well as the potential genetic risks and implications of the disease or condition in question.

6. Hematology

Hematology includes various diagnostic tests and procedures, such as blood tests, bone marrow biopsy, and genetic testing

7. Biochemistry

It can help to detect diseases in their early stages, monitor the effectiveness of treatments, and guide therapeutic decision-making.

8.  Clinical Pathology

Provides important information about a patient's health and helping physicians to make accurate diagnoses and provide appropriate treatments.

9. Sonography & 2D Echocardiography

10. Procedures under USG Guidance

There are many procedures that can be performed under ultrasound (USG) guidance. Some of the common procedures are:

  1. Biopsy: USG-guided biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure where a small sample of tissue is taken from the body for examination under a microscope. This technique is often used to obtain a tissue sample from a suspicious lump or mass, such as a breast or thyroid nodule, or a liver or kidney lesion.

  2. Drainage: USG-guided drainage involves using ultrasound to guide a needle into a fluid-filled cavity or abscess, such as a pleural effusion or a pancreatic pseudocyst, to drain the fluid.

  3. Aspiration: USG-guided aspiration is a procedure where a needle is used to remove fluid or air from a body cavity, such as the chest or abdomen.

  4. Injection: USG-guided injection involves using ultrasound to guide a needle to a specific location, such as a joint or bursa, to inject medication or anesthetic.

  5. Vascular access: USG-guided vascular access is a technique used to access blood vessels, such as veins or arteries, for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, such as administering medications or obtaining blood samples.

  6. Radiofrequency ablation: USG-guided radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that uses high-frequency energy to destroy cancer cells or other abnormal tissues. This technique is often used to treat liver tumors, kidney tumors, or thyroid nodules.

USG-guided procedures are generally safe and well-tolerated, and they can be performed on an outpatient basis with minimal discomfort or recovery time.

11. Colour Doppler

Colour Doppler is used to help healthcare providers find out if you have a condition that is reducing or blocking your blood flow. It is a safe and painless procedure that does not involve exposure to radiation. It can provide valuable information that can help guide treatment decisions and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
